The Michael Gibson Gallery, established 1984, is experienced in writing professional fine-art appraisals for insurance, estate planning or donation purposes. The gallery is a member in good standing of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC) and has extensive experience in appraising contemporary and historical International and Canadian art.

Associate Director, Jennie Kraehling, is a professionally trained appraiser and a member of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA). All appraisal reports are well researched, conform with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and accurately reflect current market trends.

We prepare professional appraisals for:

  • insurance coverage
  • damage or loss claims
  • current market value
  • cultural property donations or charitable donations
  • estate planning and probate
  • equitable division of assets (including divorce)

Our clients include many insurance companies and adjusters, estate and tax lawyers, public galleries, registered charities, artists, and private individuals and collectors.

The cost of an appraisal depends on the amount of time we spend on your project and the scope of the appraisal report. We can provide you with a written or verbal estimate of the appraisal once we ascertain the details and intended use of the appraisal required.
